Pat's voyage

For Pat Mc Cann from Galway, Eire, the diagnosis of MS was devastating. His family and business life were seriously affected. Years of difficulty followed, as he struggled to keep working, never knowing when he would feel well, or when he wouldn’t be able to get out of bed for days on end. Living from one uncertain day to the next erodes confidence and hope for the future.

Pat had no idea what to expect when he did his photoVoyage. On that particular day he was exhausted and unwell, almost falling asleep at times. When he looked at his photos, he could see his illness, but he could also see that there was something in him that could still find a bit of energy and determination… some inner strength that was visible.

His favourite photo shows him looking away, almost dreaming-maybe thinking of the Pat before his diagnosis. He chose it because he looked in control.

Almost three years later he is working hard, fund raising, putting on art exhibitions, supporting the MS Society. He keeps going.

He says he still looks at his favourite photo regularly.

Looking at this photo gets me out of bed in the morning. It makes me believe in myself again.
