One-on-one 90 minute photoVoyage with Penny Millar
During a 90 minute photo and facilitation session
- Penny takes natural portrait photographs of her subject using a special conversation and questioning technique that is effective but non-threatening.
- They look at the photos together on computer and she encourages ‘the voyager’ to talk about the ‘different selves’ they see before them. The coach may be present at the facilitation session , either as an observer or to provide some immediate and proactive feedback.
- At this stage, they begin to edit the photos as they talk about them, selecting the most interesting and useful ones that will be used for future personal development.
- Each ‘voyager’ is given a “Book of their Voyage’ that contains their most meaningful images, some exercises based around these photos and pages for personal reflections and feedback.
- A cd of the photos is also available.

View John's photoVoyagephotovoyage is effective, because photo’Voyagers’ see a wide range of expressions and Penny guides them into really looking at these different ‘selves’ and acknowledging them. She shoots photos that emphasise the positive, rather than the flaws, but seeing a rounded, honest view of themselves is the starting point for some really effective self-evaluation.
These photos helped crystallise how I come across as a coach and leader.
Penny helped my client explore and develop flexibility around the different ways he presented himself to clients, colleagues and friends. His confidence was boosted by the experience… the session provided time for in-depth reflection, and the skillful photography, relaxing atmosphere and instant impressions enabled my client to use the time extremely effectively. A good investment.
The photoVoyage process was powerful and thought-provoking and has enhanced my self-confidence.
